Communicating with the Board of Education has been a three-step process.
1. SIAC Speaks Listening CampaignPleasanton Unified School District (PUSD) Virtual Student Town Hall was held last June 4, 2020. The Virtual Town Hall organized by PUSD Communications Director, Mr. Gannon, invited SIAC Representatives as Panelists. The PUSD Superintendent, Dr. Haglund, facilitated the event and together with the Executive Cabinets, clarified points and shared plans for Beginning the School Year 2020-21 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pleasanton SIAC generated a Google Input Form and chose the highly rated questions from the students for the discussion. The students had an option to give their feedback via the Google Input Form ahead of time or type in their feedback during the event. Over 700 students participated in the event (via Zoom). SIAC collected over 300 feedback and counting! The Google Input Form remains active and being used by the PUSD Leadership as a resource to ensure that student voice is heard. 2. SIAC Speaks Communication CampaignThe Google Input Form used for the PUSD Student Virtual Town Hall remains active. It was reformatted and will later become the PUSD Message Board. This form stores all the student feedback during and after the Student Town Hall.
Feedback collected are then discussed in the PUSD Re-Opening Steering Committee and added to the PUSD FAQs. 3. Presentation to the Board of EducationSIAC presentation to the Board for the SY 2019-20 was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
